The Girl in the Red Hood

Girl in the Red Hood-page-001 (1)
After her father moves the family to a village deep in a forest without light, Liesel is bitten by a wolf, and unbeknownst to her, marked for a terrifying destiny. Befriended by a mysterious boy in the woods soon after, however, Liesel finds herself falling in love with the only person in the world who can either push her toward that end or save her from it.
This is a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. It’s still a work-in-progress, but you can read the rough draft (of what I’ve written thus far) on my Wattpad page here. I’m really excited about this one, and I hope you are, too! Liesel and Kurt are characters I’m already in love with, and I’m enjoying getting to know them through the crazy troubles life throws at them. A Year of Determined Joy: Life with Tourettes, OCD, Anxiety, and the Grace of God

My Memoir: A Work-in-Progress

Tics and anxiety were nothing new to Brittany. Tics, obsessive-compulsive tendencies, and chronicBookcoverteaser anxiety had been part of life since she was young. Marriage, military life, and work as a substitute teacher were most definitely new, however, and bringing all of it together turned Brittany’s world into an adventure she’d never anticipated.

Parents, educators, and friends of individuals with Tourette Syndrome and other neurological disorders often worry about what happens when it’s time for young adults to make lives of their own. This is a story of what happened after the chick left the nest. Through tears and laughter, tics and anxiety, and a good, old fashioned predisposition for getting into awkward situations, Brittany shares the story of her first year of surviving it all.

The world likes to dictate to us what we can and can’t enjoy in life, and being labeled “broken” is often an acceptable excuse to let life pass us by. This story, however, is about learning to live life to the fullest right where God puts us. This is a year of determined joy.
